For years, the tallest building in the country, with post-tensioned slabs spanning up to 30 m, calculated by hand.
The Central Bank of Bolivia houses the country's main financial institution. Located on the corner of Calle Mercado and Ayacucho, in La Paz, it has 126 meters in height, 32 floors and 33,500 m² built; for a long time it was the tallest building in the country.
One of its main structural features is the post-tensioned concrete slabs spanning up to 30 meters. Added to this was a difficulty typical of its era: today's computers did not exist, so many of the calculations had to be solved by hand.
The structural verification and recalculation work was led by engineer Mario Galindo Rojas, at the request of the Bartos construction company.
We design, calculate and verify structures in Bolivia and abroad, in person or remotely.
