Our History

Three generations of
structural engineering

What began in 1960 as "Mario Galindo R. & CIA LTDA" in La Paz is today Galindo Ingeniería SRL: a Bolivian firm built generation after generation. Each stage has added knowledge, geography and technology to the founding legacy.

From the Bolivian Reinforced Concrete Code to artificial intelligence algorithms and our own structural software; from Bolivia to the world.

1960 · 1st Generation
Founding the national standard

Eng. Mario Galindo Rojas founds the firm in La Paz. He writes the Bolivian Reinforced Concrete Code (CBH-87) and Law 1449, and presides over the country's most important engineering institutions.

1980 to 2010 · 2nd Generation
International doctorate and in-house software

Dr. Mario Galindo Queralt develops FemLab (1986) during his Cum Laude doctorate at the UPC in Barcelona, followed by GALGO (structural optimization). The firm consolidates its international presence and establishes itself in Chile alongside Eng. Julio Galindo Queralt, where it remains present to this day.

Today · 3rd Generation
Santa Cruz, BIM, CID and European presence

The third generation expands the firm's presence to Santa Cruz and the Netherlands, develops the CID software for sizing concrete sections, and consolidates the BIM methodology.

Eng. Mario Galindo Rojas ✞

Founder · "Mario Galindo R. & CIA LTDA", today Galindo Ingeniería SRL

A graduate Civil Engineer from Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, Eng. Mario Galindo Rojas founded the firm in La Paz in 1960 and, over more than 50 years of career, built one of the most influential bodies of work in structural engineering in Bolivia and Latin America, leading the design and construction of more than 300 landmark projects.

His contribution goes far beyond the buildings he constructed: he wrote the rules of the game for structural engineering in Bolivia. As a professor at several universities, he trained hundreds of engineers and architects, leaving behind a design school that shaped the future generations of professionals.

Mario Galindo Ballivián
Structural Engineer · CID Co-developer

A specialist in the design of reinforced concrete structures and co-developer (alongside Dr. Mario Galindo Queralt) of the CID software (Concrete Interaction Diagram), a proprietary tool capable of sizing reinforced concrete sections of any shape, with asymmetric reinforcement and prestressing steel, generating interaction diagrams. A graduate of the Universidad Privada Boliviana.

The CID software, implemented in Python and available since 2020, makes it possible to size reinforced concrete sections of any geometry, asymmetric reinforcement and prestressing steel, generating the interaction diagrams that define the load capacity of each section.

His specialty in reinforced concrete covers the full design of foundations, columns, shear walls, beams and slabs, in both conventional and post-tensioned concrete.

Three generations building our own tools

Since 1986
Finite Elements Method Laboratory

Developed during Dr. Galindo Queralt's doctorate at the UPC, it is the firm's most important program. It accounts for geometric and mechanical nonlinearity, static, dynamic and thermal loads, and simultaneous interaction between solids and fluids. Originally programmed in Fortran (1986), rewritten in C++ since 1992 and under continuous development.

Since 1984
Galindo General Optimization

Structural optimization software that achieves significant savings on engineering projects through multiple search algorithms. It includes topology optimization, artificial intelligence and advanced mathematical algorithms. Developed in object Pascal, in continuous use and development since 1984.

Since 2020
Concrete Interaction Diagram

A program to size reinforced concrete sections of any geometric shape, with asymmetric reinforcement and prestressing steel, generating complete interaction diagrams. Implemented in Python. Co-developed by Dr. Mario Galindo Queralt and Mario Galindo Ballivián.
